Morning Glory Cafe

Situated at the back of The Farm at South Mountain (a 12-acre urban oasis containing an organic farm, a pecan grove, lush lawns and three restaurants), Morning Glory has always been a swell place to enjoy the Great Outdoors over breakfast. Now that Chef Greg LaPrad operates it -- he's the talent behind upscale Quiessence, also on property -- this cute al fresco cafe is better than ever. There's nothing fancy about the set-up, a roomy flagstone patio furnished with white plastic chairs and tables, the latter draped with red checked tablecloths. But the surroundings are lovely (lots of springtime flowers + the farm in plain view) and the food is amazing. LaPrad's farm-to-table philosophy is solidly in place here, as the heirloom beans, fresh produce, local eggs, hearth-baked breads and natural, locally raised beef so deliciously prove. Help yourself to coffee, lemonade and hot chocolate, then settle in with yummy eye-openers such as white truffle scrambled eggs with farm veggies, served in a cast iron skillet with griddled bread; country-fried steak and eggs, served over soft, paprika-dusted home fries; cowboy breakfast chili with melting cheddar, sour cream, cilantro and two over-easy eggs or house-smoked salmon with hard-boiled egg, dill aioli and toast points. It's all yummy. If you're going on the weekend, get there early or be prepared to wait. Breakfast Tu-Su. $-$$
