Big Race Memorial Day weekend

Posted: Updated:

There's an old saying "pavement is just a way to get to the dirt track" and that will be the case this Memorial Day weekend as the 360 Sprint Cars take the 1/3 mile track at Manzanita Speedway at 35th ave. and Broadway for an Indy 500 weekend.
It's the Wayne Weiler Salute to Indy. He was a local farmer and dirt track racer who actually ran in the Indy 500. He passed away a couple of years ago.
The race Sat. night is 50 laps which is forever in a Sprint car. If you're looking for crazy, fast action, c'mon out.
Any form of racing can't be done without sponsors and I continue to get help from companies around the state, so a big thank you to the following who are helping me get that checkered flag. Checker Auto parts, Parker Store, Canyon Home Builders,
Desert Valley Auto Parts, Unique Heavy Towing, and's premier pressure washing service.
This Saturday's race will be unique in that it will have the largest purse ever. Largely thanks to Jimmy Blanton from Arizona Race Mart who's been working non-stop to round up the money. $16,500 will be up for grabs with the winner getting $1,500.
It will be my 2nd race of this young season and I'm hoping to score a top ten in the #71 car owned by Kevin Montgomery. Hope to see you out there!
