Mother arrested in Tucson child abuse casePosted: Updated:
The Tucson Police Department Friday arrested a 32-year old woman and charged her with child abuse.
Police say Catina Smith injured her 17-day old daughter.
The investigation started in early September when a concerned citizen called police from the WalMart store at Kolb and Speedway reporting Smith had dropped the infant.
Following investigating by Child Protective Services, charges were filed and Smith's other child was also taken from her.
TPD says CPS followed new state law and immediately notified law enforcement of their investigation and the need for charges.
