Pima Community College announces cost cutting movesPosted: Updated:
Pima Community College has announced the implementation of several measures designed to reduce spending in anticipation of expected reductions in state appropriations. "It is prudent for us to begin taking measures in anticipation of reductions," said PCC Chancellor, Dr. Roy Flores. "We will continue to monitor the economy and re-evaluate the situation when budget bills are introduced during the legislative session."
Effective immediately, the college will reduce administrative overhead, put a hold on all discretionary spending, eliminate non-mission-critical travel, and institute a hiring freeze for all staff and administrative hires. The hiring freeze will not apply to Campus police, faculty, or grant and contract funded positions.
