Woman charged with killing sonPosted: Updated:
A 49-year old Tucson woman faces first degree murder charges for the stabbing death of her son on Sunday, July 27. Police say that Della Vermuele killed 31-year old Spencer Carbone at their home in the 3300 block of North Geronimo Avenue, after the two became involved in an argument over finances.
Witnesses told police that Vermeule went into the kitchen area, grabbed a knife, and stabbed her son. The witnesses say that Carbone was not armed with a weapon at the time, however during the struggle Vermeule also suffered stab wounds that required her to undergo surgery at UMC. Vermeule was released from the hospital on Wednesday, July 30, when she was booked into the Pima County Jail on the murder charge.
