Fox 11 viewer helps capture a "Most Wanted"

An alert Fox 11 viewer helped law enforcement find and catch one of "Southern Arizona's Most Wanted".

The feature appeared on Fox 11 News at 9 Monday night. In the story, Livingston Sutro, head of the adult probation office in Cochise County, detailed their search for 26-year old Rolando Hector Vasquez.

A viewer recognized Vasquez as someone she deals with at an east side rental store. She alerted authorities and Vasquez was taken into custody Thursday night.

The viewer was concerned because she rents items from the store and frequently gave her credit card number, address and other personal financial information to Vasquez.

The store, Rent-A-Center at 22nd and Kolb, was also alerted by the viewer and apparently terminated Vasquez. The company did not get back to Fox 11 News today for comment.

Once authorities in Cochise County learned where Vasquez was staying, they alerted Tucson police who made the arrest Thursday night. He was located at an apartment at 7351 East Speedway and booked into the Pima County jail awaiting transfer to Cochise County.

Sutro said Vasquez absconded from probation in May, 2007. He had been convicted of writing checks to different businesses worth thousands of dollars, but knowing the account had been closed.

After the capture, Sutro said, "I wanted to thank the Fox 11 news team for helping us locate probation absconder Hector Vasquez. You all perform a very valuable service for the communities of Southeastern Arizona. Keep up the good work!"
