City making cuts due to reduced sales tax revenuePosted: Updated:
In a recent national poll, 15% of those asked said they thought the economy was in good shape. The immediate response from many to the statistic is, just who are those 15%? The rough economy is impacting nearly all of us, and the one thing we're doing is not buying, which means trouble for cities that rely on sales tax revenue.
If people wonder why, it all goes back to Chris Golden, who works hard trying to stay in business. "There's been a few flooring stores already this year that have gone out of business," he says, and that affects sales tax revenue as well. In the meantime, we're going to start seeing reduced hours at Recreation Centers.
