Community Food Bank observing Hunger Action Month

Posted: Updated:

The Community Food Bank is marking Hunger Action Month in September by encouraging people to become involved in the fight against hunger. The food bank is facing a difficult task in feeding the hungry in Southern Arizona with the current slow economy. In July of 2008, the food bank distributed more than 17,000 family food boxes, a 43% increase over the same month last year.

Hunger Action Month is an effort to give people the opportunity to help solve the problem through philanthropy and/or volunteering. Founded in 1976, the Community Food Bank provides food to almost 200,000 people each year. More information is available by clicking
