BBB says notices from financial company are legitimatePosted: Updated:
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) says notices sent out to several consumers in southern Arizona from BNY Mellon Shareowner Services are legitimate. The notices indicate that the recipients' Social Security numbers and other personal information may be at risk.
BBB says the name of the company may not be familiar because they perform services on behalf of other companies. "While there has been no indication that the data on the lost tapes has been misused in any way, we are offering comprehensive fraud protection to all affected individuals as a precaution," said BNY spokesperson Kevin Heine.
