The city of Tucson's Human Resources Department has received the 2008 Agency Award for Excellence from the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR). The award recognizes the overall quality, accomplishments and contributions of the city's personnel program that exceeds the normal operation of "good government personnel programs."

"We were recognized in several areas, including our transition to a paperless application process, development of a citywide internship program, expansion of our Wellness program, and New Employee Welcome," said Tucson Human Resources Director Cindy Bezaury. "Our staff is truly honored because nominations for this award are accepted internationally."
