Council to consider rainwater harvesting ordinancePosted: Updated:
Rain in the desert is a rare commodity for most of the year, and now one City Councilmember hopes to turn some of that rain into liquid gold. The Council, along with the help of homebuilders, developers, and environmental groups, has drafted an ordinance that would make rainwater harvesting a requirement.
City Council won't vote on the ordinance until October. Until then, City staff and people concerned with the ordinance will continue working on the language. If it passes, the plan wouldn't go into effect until June of 2010.
