Man rescued from mine shaftPosted: Updated:
A man who fell into a mine shaft near East Montezuma Canyon was rescued by Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue Agents on Monday, September 8. At about 11 p.m., Border Patrol Agents from the Naco Station apprehended a group of 14 illegal aliens in the area. They told agents that a person in their group had fallen into the abandoned mine shaft.
The man suffered injuries to both of his legs and his back in the fall. Rescuers were able to extract the man from the mine shaft at approximately 12:30 a.m., and he was airlifted to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
