Pima County election results to lag in NovemberPosted: Updated:
It was days after the September 2nd Primary Election before Pima County was able to publish final numbers, and voters learned who won a few close races. County officials gathered with leaders from the four political parties on September 15 to try and make some changes before the General Election, but Fox 11 News has learned that the same basic vote counting system will be used in November.
The parties did come up with a way to speed up the ballot counting process somewhat. During the Primary, election workers would spend about an hour after the polls closed doing certain administrative duties, and then take the results to the counting station. In November, the county will have people drive those results to a central location to be counted as soon as the polls close.
