Border Patrol Agents in the Tucson Sector arrested five illegal immigrants on Friday, August 8, including a man wanted for murder in Tucson. The arrests were made in the desert east of the Nogales Port of Entry, and it was later discovered that Victor Mendez-Macedo is a person of interest in an ongoing Tucson homicide investigation.
Mendez was turned over to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department for extradition to Pima County. He faces possible federal criminal charges and deportation proceedings.
