The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Arizona has announced that a settlement has been reached with a Tucson cardiologist accused of submitting false claims for payment to Medicare. Dr. Mark C. Goldberg agreed to pay $135,000 to settle the matter.

The U.S. Attorney alleged that from January to October of 2007, Dr. Goldberg submitted claims for payment to the Medicare Program in violation of the physician self-referral laws, also known as the "Stark Law."
