Intoxicated man arrested after assaulting girlfriend

RIMROCK - The following is a press release from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office:

On August 29, 2009, at approximately 10 P.M., Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to reported family fight at a residence in the 3800 block of Airport Drive, Rimrock. During an initial check of the area, deputies found 48-year-old Ronald Olivier hiding in bushes behind the residence. He was detained, interviewed and acknowledged arguing with his 43-year-old girlfriend. During the argument he admitted pushing her to the ground from behind. Deputies learned that Olivier had been drinking alcoholic beverages most of the day.

Deputies spoke with Olivier's 47-year-old brother who witnessed the assault and saw the victim fall. The victim was having a difficult time regaining her stance as the brother attempted to intervene by pulling Olivier away from the victim. ?Olivier became upset with his brother and attempted to assault him. As the altercation continued between the brothers, neighbors came over to assist and were able to calm Olivier down. Olivier's brother and neighbors then escorted the victim to another home pending arrival of YCSO and EMS personnel.

As a result of the investigation, Olivier was arrested for Disorderly Conduct per Domestic Violence and Assault per Domestic Violence.

EMS personnel treated the victim at the scene and she was transported to the Verde Valley Medical Center regarding an irregular heart rate. Olivier's brother was not injured.
