Diamondbacks hold off Astros 4-3Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Dan Haren threw seven sharp innings and Justin Upton hit his 22nd home run as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Houston Astros 4-3 yesterday to complete a three-game sweep.
Chad Qualls got the last four outs for his 24th save in 29 chances, stranding the potential tying run in the eighth and ninth innings.
He was injured on the final play when he was hit by a liner off the bat of Jason Michaels. Shortstop Stephen Drew picked up the ball and threw Michaels out to end the game.
Qualls landed awkwardly and stayed on the ground for several moments. He was favoring his left leg as he was helped off the field by trainers.
The Diamondbacks are on the road tonight as they open a four-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
