PHOENIX -- A Valley high school student is in juvenile custody after police say he brought a .45-caliber handgun to school.

Valley teen arrested for taking gun to school - A Valley high school student is behind bars after police say he took a gun to school.
It happened at Mountain Pointe High School near 44th Street and Knox Road on Wednesday.
At approximately 11:15 a.m., a report was made to staff that a student had a gun, according to Mountain Pointe Principal Bruce Kipper.
Kipper said the student was quickly identified and with the assistance of the Phoenix Police Department, the gun was confiscated and the student was arrested.
According to investigators, the 17-year-old student brought the gun in his backpack and told his friends he was going to use it for an after-school fight.
