Tucson boys arrested for 'sexting' nude photo of female friendPosted: Updated:
TUCSON -- Tucson police say they've arrested two 13-year-old boys who reportedly sent a nude photo of a 13-year-old female friend to other boys.
Teens sexting could face serious charges - azfamily.com's Marissa Wingate reports sexting by teens could land them or the receiver in court.
Police spokeswoman Sgt. Diana Lopez said on Wednesday that the girl sent one boy a photo of herself using her cell phone. He sent it on to another boy, who forwarded it to others.
The boys were arrested on a misdemeanor charge of using a telephone to offend, harass or intimidate. Their names weren't released.
Lopez said teens arrested for similar crimes in other states have faced felony charges. But Tucson police made the charging decision after deciding the boys likely didn't know the implications of their alleged actions.
Lopez says sending such racy photos via cell phone, known as "sexting," is technically distributing child pornography.
