Candlelight vigil for 5-year-old San Tan Valley drowning victim - A candlelight vigil will be held for a 5-year-old San Tan Valley girl who drowned in her family's backyard swimming pool.
Rachel Allen died Monday night. She and her 2-year-old brother were found in the swimming pool Saturday evening. Both were air-lifted to Maricopa County Medical Center. The little boy reportedly is recovering.
It's not clear how long the kids were in the water. There was no fence around the pool and the parents were involved in a remodeling project at the time. Rachel's family donated her organs, saving the lives of five other children.
The candlelight vigil for the kindergartener is 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at Simonton Elementary School, which is located near Ocotillo and Schnepf roads in the Castlegate subdivision.
