Intoxicated man smashes police cars at Scottsdale restaurantPosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE -- Scottsdale police arrested an intoxicated man after he insulted restaurant employees then smashed up police cars.
Police were called to the scene of a man creating a disturbance at the Jade Palace restaurant near 92nd Street and Shea Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.
The manager told officers that the suspect entered the restaurant and immediately began insulting the staff.
Officers found the suspect, Erin Bryant, 31, in his pickup truck in the parking lot.
As officers approached, Bryant backed up and rammed an arriving patrol car. He also hit two other cars in the parking lot.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, Bryant reversed his truck and accelerated onto the hood of a second police car that had pulled up behind the pickup.
A third police vehicle, a full-sized SUV, pinned Bryant's truck against the other vehicles.
Bryant physically resisted arrest and officers deployed a Taser. The suspect then submitted to arrest without further incident.
No one was injured, however, three police vehicles and two civilian vehicles sustained thousands of dollars in damage.
Bryant was found to be intoxicated and was arrested and booked on charges including assault, disorderly conduct, DUI, endangerment and driving with a suspended license.
