Yuma court clerk accused of fixing tickets

Posted: Updated:

YUMA -- Sheriff's deputies in Yuma County say a longtime court clerk has been charged with fixing traffic tickets for friends and relatives.

Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Eben Bratcher says Carlotta Perez was apparently clearing citations out of the computer or not entering them at all. The court caught on to the inconsistencies and asked the sheriff to investigate.

The case was referred to La Paz County prosecutors to avoid a conflict of interest, and the longtime office manager of Yuma Justice Court Precinct 1 was charged this week with six courts of forgery.
