PHOENIX (AP) -- A man who fatally stabbed a stranger inside a suburban Phoenix mall last year was sentenced to life in prison on Friday with no chance of parole.
Fiesta mall killer gets natural life in prison - The man who stabbed 2 men at the Fiesta Mall in Mesa killed one of them and has been sentenced to natural life in prison.
Bernard Allen stabbed a man with a pocket knife inside the Fiesta Mall in Mesa on March 30, 2008. Allen escaped and the man later recovered.
But the following day, Allen walked into a store in the same mall. Store employees say he was acting strangely as he paid $41.60 for an 8-inch butcher knife.
Minutes later, Allen walked into a mall bathroom and stabbed 31-year-old Issurah Jackson in the back. Witnesses who saw Allen leaving the bathroom with the bloody knife called police and he was arrested.
The 27-year-old felon with a history of mental illness pleaded
guilty to first-degree murder in June.??
