Werth hits 4th homer in 3 games as Phillies bomb D-backsPosted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Jayson Werth hit his fourth home run in three games to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 12-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks and a three-game sweep.
The Phillies capitalized on Arizona starter Doug Davis' erratic location, scoring six runs -- five earned -- in five innings.
Werth's two-run shot to center in the fifth gave the Phillies a three-run lead, and Ruiz and Howard homered in a five-run sixth.
Joe Blanton allowed a season-high 10 hits but limited Arizona to three runs. The Diamondbacks leave Philadelphia on a five-game losing streak.
The D-backs are in Houston tonight to open a three-game series with the Astros.
First pitch is set for 5:05 (Arizona time) with right-hander Yusmeiro Petit on the mound for the Diamondbacks against Houston right-hander Roy Oswalt.
