Over $750,000 worth of cocaine seized during traffic stopPosted: Updated:
QUARTZSITE - The Department of Public Safety arrested Hevert Bautista-Hernandez of Sonora, Mexico for criminal speed and transporting 38.4 pounds of cocaine.
On August 17, an officer pulled Hevert Bautista-Hernandez over for going 110 miles per house near Milepost 19 on Interstate 10 near Quartzsite.
As the officer searched the vehicle the officer noticed indicators of criminal activity and requested a canine.
A Quartzsite police officer and canine Rocky arrived on scene and Rocky positively alerted to the driver's side fender and passenger's side door where 16 bundles of cocaine, about 38.4 pounds.
The value of the cocaine is estimated at about $768,000.
Bautista-Hernandez was booked into La Paz County Jail.
