Glendale police arrest suspect accused of assaulting officerPosted: Updated:
GLENDALE -- Glendale police detectives have arrested a suspect for an Aug. 11 assault against an officer.
At approximately 1 a.m. on Aug. 11, Glendale police Officer Gino Garcia was on patrol near Camelback Road and 77th Lane when he saw a man in a city park after hours.
Garcia approached the man, asked him to stop and identified himself as a police officer.
The man turned and began to strike the officer in the chest and arms.
Garcia was able to get away from the man, who fled the scene. Garcia pursued the suspect, but he lost sight of him.
Detectives identified the suspect as Ramiro Javier Garibay, 32, of Glendale. He was arrested Tuesday and booked for aggravated assault against a police officer with a dangerous instrument and theft of a motor vehicle.
