PHOENIX -- Police spent hours scouring a Phoenix neighborhood for the suspect in an early morning shooting that landed one man in the hospital.

Helicopters were hovering over the area of 11th and Vogel avenues, which is north of Hatcher Road, early Wednesday morning.
According to police, one man shot another man in the stomach. It happened at about 4:30 a.m. right in the middle of the street.
Witnesses told investigators the two men -- an African American and a Caucasian, who was on a bike -- were arguing just minutes before the African American man pulled a gun and fired.
That suspect took off, prompting police to set up a perimeter and launch a search. A police helicopter and K9 units were brought in to help. Officers later called off that search after coming up empty
The suspect, who is still on the loose, is described as an African American man in his early 20s. He's about 5 feet 8 inches tall and is bald. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt ad blue shorts.
The 20-year-old wounded man, whose name has not been released, was rushed to the hospital. His injuries reportedly are life threatening.
