Man arrested for alleged sexual assault on teen girl in '08

EL MIRAGE - A 20-year-old man has been taken into custody for allegedly assaulting and sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl over a year and a half ago.

The crime happened on January 9, 2008. The teen victim said she was abused by a Hispanic male while she was walking near her home near 127 th Avenue and Via Camille.

A sketch was composed of the suspect based on what the victim told police and a $1,000 reward was offered for any information on the attacker.

During their investigation El Mirage officers got DNA evidence and sent it to a crime lab. The investigators recently received notification that they had found a DNA match. Police confirmed the forensic evidence was that of 20-year-old Oscar Gonzalez. He was arrested on Tuesday morning without incident by El Mirage officers in Phoenix, with the help of the U.S. Marshalls Task Force.

Gonzalez faces charges including kidnapping, sexual abuse and molestation of a child.
