Domestic dispute lands both parties in jailPosted: Updated:
PRESCOTT VALLEY - The following is a press release from the Prescott Valley Police Department:
On August 17th at approximately 6:56 P.M. Prescott Valley Police responded to a 911 call for help at a domestic dispute in the 3800 block of Robin Drive in The Town of Prescott Valley.
Officers contacted a female outside the residence identified as 29 year Patricia Santos of Prescott Valley. She told Officers that she just wanted her child.
Officers contacted the male half of the incident identified as 33 year old Savas Gonzales Aguilar of Prescott Valley. Aguilar described a physical encounter with Santos. They have a child in common and are not married. Aguilar described a dispute over the custody agreement and visitation. It was their daughter's third birthday. The confrontation turned physical when Santos allegedly threw a child's toy hitting him in the back of the head and causing injury. Aguilar picked his daughter up. Aguilar reported Santos attempted several times to take the child from him. She was unsuccessful and then allegedly threw a glass picture frame at him. He turned to shield the child. The frame reportedly broke and left glass shards on the floor.
Aguilar said that Santos picked up a shard of broken glass and walked at him. He retreated to a back bedroom as he called 911 for assistance. Aguilar reported fearing for his and his child's safety. Police Dispatchers told him to lock himself in a room away from Santos. He did so in a hallway Bathroom.
Aguilar further reported Santos kicked and hit the door to get into the room. He barricaded the door with his body. He said that he heard something hitting the door. He then observed scissor tips piercing the door while he was leaning against it. This happened several times before the scissors came through the side of the door to pry the door open. When He observed the scissors come through the opening in the door, he grabbed them and the door slammed on Santo's hand.
Aguilar sustained minor injuries. He was also found to have a warrant for his arrest and he was arrested and booked for the warrant.
Santos was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde for aggravated assault per domestic violence, assault per domestic violence, criminal damage per domestic violence and endangerment per domestic violence.
The child was released to a third party.
