PRESCOTT - The following is a release from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office:

On August 16, 2009, at approximately 5:15 P.M., Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a reported assault in the 3900 block of Highway 89, behind the Pinion Pines Bar, Prescott. Deputies contacted the 55-year-old victim who stated 40-year-old Michael McCracken had "elbowed" him in the mouth resulting in two broken teeth. The assault occurred back on August 11, 2009, at the victim's home adjacent to the bar. The victim explained that McCracken became upset when the victim inferred McCracken had stolen personal property and without provocation, struck him in the mouth.

Based on information from the victim, deputies checked several trailers in the area attempting to locate McCracken, but were not successful. During a check in and around the Pinion Pines Bar, deputies located a witness to the assault. While speaking with the witness, McCracken called the witness's cell phone. After acknowledging McCracken was on the phone, deputies spoke with him. McCracken refused to tell deputies where he was currently staying. Deputies continued their investigation and eventually learned McCracken's home was located in the 2800 block of Granite Gardens Drive, Prescott.

Deputies went to the location and found McCracken who admitted to fighting with the victim. McCracken claimed the victim struck him first and he reacted by punching the victim in the face at least twice. McCracken was arrested for one felony count of Aggravated Assault and booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center.
