'Blue Basket Bandit' stealing cosmetics from Walgreens storesPosted: Updated:
CHANDLER -- The Chandler Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a suspect who has been stealing cosmetics from Walgreens stores.
Over the past two years, the male suspect has stolen approximately $10,000 worth of cosmetics from the Walgreens stores in the areas south of Baseline Road, east of 32nd Street, north of Queen Creek Road and west of Country Club Road.
According to Chandler police Detective David Ramer, the suspect known as the "Blue Basket Bandit" enters a Walgreens, picks up a blue basket and proceeds to the cosmetics section where he removes various items displayed for sale.
The suspect then removes Walgreens plastic bags from his pockets and transfers the cosmetics from the basket to the bags. The suspect then walks out the front without paying.
Ramer said the thefts range from $300 to $700 each time.
Ramer said the suspect often changes his appearance and uses different vehicles for each theft, first removing the license plate from the vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 4 inches tall to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build and brown hair.
The most distinctive vehicle used to commit a theft was a white, flatbed pickup truck with wood fence sides around the bed of the truck and an unknown California license plate on the front.
Anyone with information should contact the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130.
