Man arrested after assaulting elderly woman, stealing her car

TEMPE -- Tempe police arrested a 50-year-old man for assaulting an elderly woman and stealing her car in June.


Man arrested for allegedly attecking elderly woman - A robbery suspect was arrested for allegedly attacking a 72-year-old woman.

According to the Tempe Police Department, a 72-year-old woman was in the parking lot of the Target store near Baseline Road and McClintock Drive on June 26 when she was approached by Brian Scott Green.

Green offered to help the woman load her items into her vehicle. She refused and asked Green to leave her alone.

Police say Green then pushed the woman with both his hands, grabbed her keys and drove away in her vehicle.

On Aug. 5, the victim's vehicle was recovered by Phoenix police and returned to her.

The woman found a prescription bottle in the passenger compartment with the name Brian Green and provided that information to Tempe police detectives.

The victim identified Green and he was arrested Sunday morning.

Green was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked and charged with one count of robbery and motor vehicle theft.
