Man trapped under jeep after falling into mine shaftPosted: Updated:
PEORIA - Rescue crews helped save a man's life after an off-road vehicle accident near Lake Pleasant Parkway and Westwing.
Man pulled from under jeep during rescue - A man whose off-road vehicle was upside down in a mine shaft was rescued by crews.
Mike Tellef, with Peoria Police and Fire tells 3TV they got the call at about 3 p.m. but officers were not able to reach the vehicle for 45 minutes because they had to use helicopters.
There were three men in the off-road vehicle. The man trapped under the vehicle has been identified as 32-year-old Thomas Lippre. He was trapped after the jeep rolled and ended up upside down in an old mine shaft.
Crews were able to pull Lippre from the car at about 5 p.m. and he was transported to John C. Lincoln North Hospital via helicopter with non-life-threatening injuries. He is said to reside in Glendale.
The driver of the jeep was 19-year-old Kevin Michael Gallegos, who called 911, and 23-year-old Charlieann Brady was a rear passenger.
