PHOENIX -- A man died after getting in a fight with a father and son Tuesday night.
Homicide investigation after man found dead - Police say they are investigating the homicide of a man whose son was found beaten in the front lawn.
Phoenix police officers say they found a 40-year-old man on the front lawn with injuries that were consistent with a fight near 43rd Street and Freemont. Police searched the home and found a 52-year-old man dead inside.
The injured man was taken to the hospital with lacerations.
During a preliminary investigation, the deceased man was thought to be the injured man's father. However, further investigation revealed that the victim was a friend of the injured man's father.
According to investigators, a violent struggle occurred between the son, father and the father's friend.
The father was located Wednesday morning.
The investigation is still ongoing and no one has been charged.
Officer Luis Samudio said that aspects of the investigation reveal this incident was a self-defense occurrence.
The names of those involved have not been released.
