PHOENIX -- Phoenix police converged on a Phoenix neighborhood, arresting a chase suspect Wednesday morning.

It all started when a Department of Public Safety officer tried to pull over a driver for having exprired plates. That person refused to stop and a chase ensued. Speeds reportedly reached 90 mph along Interstate 17.
The man bailed out of the car, which was later found to be stolen, after it overheated or broke down in the area of 30th Avenue and Roosevelt Street.
Aerial video showed the suspect running through an alley and jumping over a wall into a backyard. The man hid for a time in a refrigerator that was in the backyard.
After searching the home, officers eventually took the man into custody without any further incident.
DPS is crediting the Channel 3/Channel 5/Channel 12 news chopper for helping them find the suspect.
