DPS seizes millions worth of cocaine, heroin, marijuanaPosted: Updated:
PAYSON - A Department of Public Safety traffic stop led to the arrest of two men for trafficking drugs.
On Sunday a DPS officer stopped a commercial tractor-trailer traveling northbound on State Route 87, about 19 miles south of Payson for an equipment violation.
The driver consented to a search. During the search the officer located 8.7 kilos of high grade South American type heroin with a street value of $452,400, 50 kilos of cocaine with a street value of $1.4 million and 300 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $157,500.
The driver, Albert Chrzaszcz, 36, or Surprise and Jayson Lyle Shawd, 41, of Mesa were arrested.
Both suspects were booked into the Gila County Jail in Payson on charges of possession of narcotic drug for sale, transportation of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana for sale.
