PHOENIX -- A somewhat unusual morning storm rumbled through the Great Phoenix Area Tuesday, dumping quite a bit of rain in some areas and spawning lots of lightning.
Morning storm rumbling east - Tuesday morning's storm rumbled east through the Great Phoenix Area.
According to a rain gauge at Arizona State University, Tempe got more than an inch of rain in just a couple of hours. A flood watch was issued for the area until 9:45 a.m.
South Phoenix got more than 3/4 of an inch.
Rain was still coming down in parts of central Phoenix at about 7 a.m. Chandler was also seeing some moderate rainfall.
The storm was moving west to east, and while things were expected to clear up somewhat by late morning and early afternoon, more storms are in the forecast for the late afternoon, into the evening and overnight.
Tuesday's high will top out at about 104 degrees, a bit cooler than usual thanks to this morning's rain.
3TV Meteorologist April Warnecke said a chance of thunderstorm is going to stay in the forecast every day through the rest of the week.
