TEMPE -- Defending national champion Arizona State is trying to stave off elimination in the NCAA softball regionals.
The Sun Devils lost 10-2 to Louisiana State yesterday in Tempe and then came back to beat Cal State Fullerton 7-0 last night.
ASU is now 42-17 and must defeat LSU twice today to advance to the Super Regional round.
Meanwhile in Kentucky yesterday, Arizona rolled to an 18-4 win over host Louisville.
Facing the nation's winningest pitcher in Kristen Wadwell (41-9), the Wildcats ripped 17 hits and tallied a school-record run total, besting a previous record of 15 runs in a victory over Florida State in 1995.
Stacie Chambers drove in nine runs and hit two home runs, giving her 31 homes and 96 RBIs on the season.
The UofA is now 43-14 and plays Purdue today with a win advancing the Wildcats to the Super Regionals.
