About the Market:

The Downtown Phoenix Public Market is open every Wednesday, 4 - 8 p.m., and every Saturday year-round, rain or shine from 8 a.m. - Noon.

Established in February 2005 the Market provides our city with:

A several-day-a-week venue that is an interim step to establishing a permanent Public Market hall and Market district in Downtown Phoenix

Additional quality of life choices by increasing access to affordable, nutritious, healthy foods

New jobs

A unique outlet for small local food-related enterprises to create opportunities for small businesses that cannot afford typical retail space costs to market their products

Support for our state's small agricultural producers and agricultural heritage.

The best of what's fresh and local, right in the heart of Phoenix.

Plans for the coming year include

Opening 5-day per week Market Store - late summer 2009 in building adjacent to current outdoor Market - the first local foods store in downtown and the first new grocery store in the core in 30 years!

Fundraising for building expansion, and operating costs - $130,000 still needed

Continue working toward permanent indoor/outdoor public market over the next 5 years.
