2009 Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge - Finalist Larry Giebelhausen Golf Digest, the USGA and NBC Sports created an event to find out how an average golfer would shoot on a U.S. Open course under Championship conditions - thick rough, fast greens and no gimmies. This year golf fans were asked to send in a six-word essay on why they thought they should be chosen to play Bethpage Black, this year's U.S. Open course, and try to break 100. Online voting for the winner begins Thursday, March 19 at and runs through April 30. A story about the four finalists will appear in the May issue of Golf Digest (on newsstands 4/7 People that go to the site to vote for the winner will be eligible for a number of great prizes: Two winners will receive tickets and a trip to the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach One winner will receive a golf vacation for four to Myrtle Beach. On March 19-21 GOPAC, the Republican Party's preeminent training and education political action committee, is hosting its annual members retreat in Phoenix, Arizona. The retreat will consist of speeches boasting GOP leaders and rising stars in the Republican community. Among the honored attendees will be GOPAC's newly elected chairman, Frank Donatelli who succeeds former GOPAC Chairman and the most recently elected RNC Chairman Michael Steele. Most recently Chairman Donatelli was asked by Senator John McCain to serve as the Deputy Chairman of the Republican National Committee during the 2008 presidential elections. His previous appointments have included serving as an Assistant to President Reagan for Political and Intergovernmental Affairs and as Deputy Assistant to the President for Public Liaison at the White House. Chairman Donatelli served on White House Chief of Staff James Baker's team that negotiated the 1984 presidential debates, a role he reprised as a Senior Advisor to Bob Dole in 1996. He was also a Regional Political Director for Ronald Reagan and was active in the presidential campaigns of George H.W. Bush. GOPAC was formed in 1979 to build a Republican political infrastructure capable of winning and governing across America.
