When it comes to trying to give old outdoor furniture a facelift - I have two words ...two, new, very effective words Krylon Fusion Spray Paint.
Done. This article could quite simply be done. If you've ever tried to spray paint and revamp and revive old lawn furniture - especially those plastic, resin, inexpensive but indispensable chairs, you know my frustration. One year of use and they look, well, really bad.
I had to find a way to revamp, renew them without spending a lot. And, voila, I found it!
Now, I must address those of you who wish to clean your chairs - especially if they're white. Votes are in; just like American Idol if you want to refreshen them, try one of two things. Straight bleach is really effective. Or, a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. For both, a lot of elbow grease. Read on to find an even better solution - but it does include painting.
Did I mention two words Krylon Fusion?!
This stuff is good, it does what it says and it solves a problem - how to refresh that backyard furniture enough to get at least an extra year of use out of it. You don't have to prime any surface, you just spray it on, it dries fast - 15 minutes - and the coverage is great! Plus, you don't even have to put a top finish on to keep it safe from the sun and heat.
I found this spray paint at craft stores, home improvement stores and even at the big discount stores that have a hardware/paint department.
We're all trying to save a few bucks these days, re-do not replace. And this is a great start.
And, keep a couple of my other discoveries in mind. This paint works perfectly on wicker, planters, ceramics and more.
And if you want to get creative with your existing items check this out. I grabbed a large stamp that looked exactly like the fancy design I wanted for my old planters - but what kind of paint to use. Try Folkart Outdoor paints available at craft stores. Paint it on and stamp a fancy design for cheap, cheap, cheap. And, a look that's fancy, fancy, fancy.
So, if you're like me this year - working with a budget that requires you to revive not reinvest. Try these products - they work!
