Definitely, Maybe starring Ryan ReynoldsPosted: Updated:
"Definitely, Maybe" definitely earns 3 &1/2 Red Vines for romance times 3
I always wanted to see "Definitely, Maybe," but just never got around to it. You know how that is. But while I admit it wasn't the best in terms of viewing situations, I finally got my chance on a return flight from New York. As you know, that's a place filled with distractions, yet the light romantic comedy had no trouble holding my interest.
and Abigail Breslin star as a father and daughter helping each other come to terms with an impending divorce. When Maya (Breslin) asks her Dad (Reynolds) to tell her the story of how her parents met and married, he decides to make a game of it by telling her the story of three important loves in his life. To keep her guessing he changes all the names, so she is left to figure out which lucky lady turns out to be her mom.
What unfolds is a sweet tale of loves found and lost-and found again! You will find yourself guessing along with Maya as you try to untangle hidden motives and passions. Is it his college sweetheart Emily (Elizabeth Banks)? Or could Maya's mom be the literary intellectual Summer (Rachel Weisz)? Then again there's an awful lot of passion between Dad and rebellious political campaign worker April (Isla Fisher)!
Hey, my only problem was that I thought Reynolds as Ryan was so darn likeable I couldn't imagine any woman not doing her best to make a relationship with him work out-much less three!
But by looking back, Reynolds gets a chance to see things he missed the first time around. And so do the women in his life-or at least one of them does. Watching father and daughter work through their loss to both learn it's never too late to find love yet again, is a sweet trip that I recommend most definitely!
LADIES ROOM LOWDOWN: Okay, seeings how I saw this movie a thousand miles up, I don't have any 'chatter' to report back to you but here's some cool trivia. Abigail Breslin's character talks about her American Girls doll collection, saying that they will be 'worth a fortune". Now Breslin is staring as the first actress to play one of the American Girls in the recent release "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl!"
