Companies create oasis for Valley family

PHOENIX -- "I feel absolutely excited and in complete amazement," Fiona Behan said.

Behan couldn't be happier now, but that wasn't the case when we first profiled her story in a 3 On Your Side report a month ago.

All payments to trades were made directly by Shasta. Some trades were able to donate labor and/or materials.

Behan was distraught after giving Riviera Pools $15,000 to build a pool.

The pool was supposed to be used as hydro-therapy for Behan's daughter, who suffers from a form of autism.

But after doing some work, Riviera Pools walked off the job and declared bankruptcy, leaving Behan out of money and out of a pool.

When we aired Behan's story, Shasta Pools, a licensed pool builder, contacted 3 On Your Side.

"Two of my managers came into the office and said, 'We saw this last night and, Dave, if there's any way we can we sure would like to do something for these people," said Dave Reinert with Shasta.

So 3 On Your Side put Shasta in contact with Behan.

"When I first got the phone call, I was in shock," Behan said. "It was depressing looking at a concrete hole and not knowing what we were going to do."

Not only did Shasta step up, but so did a lot of their subcontractors.

In all, it took an estimated $15,000 in donated material and labor to complete Behan's backyard oasis.

"They just started stepping up one after another," Reinert said.

"You feel like you're on vacation when you come out here," Behan said.

"With this experience of people coming forward, all the people who have come forward to help and contribute, it makes you feel like people do care and it gives you hope and I don't feel so alone anymore," she added.

And Behan says she couldn't be more grateful to Shasta or 3 On Your Side for helping to restore that hope.

"I'm completely grateful because without 3 On Your Side airing our story none of this would've been possible," Behan said. "It's going to be a fantastic summer. It's absolutely incredible. We just come out and stare at this and we feel like we're in someone else's yard!"
