Sun Devil women face Georgia in NCAA tournament

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Arizona State faces Georgia Saturday in what amounts to a road game for the Sun Devil women in the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament.

The Sun Devils are seeded sixth in the Trenton Region, while Georgia is seeded 11th. But the game is being played in Duluth, Ga., where the crowd will obviously be on Georgia's side.

Georgia was 7-7 in the SEC, while Arizona State was 15-3 in the Pac-10 before an upset loss to USC in the first round of the conference tournament.

The Sun Devils also are dealing with the loss of guard Dymond Simon. She went down with a season-ending knee injury in the regular-season finale against Stanford.

The Arizona State-Georgia winner will face the winner of the Florida State-North Carolina A&T game in the second round on Monday.
