Owls earn 2nd straight NCAA bid, No. 11 seed against Arizona St.Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Arizona State is on its way to the big dance. The Sun Devils learned Sunday they will meet the Temple Owls in the South Regional in Miami.
The 22-11 Owls earned an automatic bid for the second straight season after winning the Atlantic 10 tournament on Saturday.
The Sun Devils are coming off a run to the Pac-10 tourney final, where they blew a 15-point halftime lead in a 66-63 loss to Southern California on Saturday. After the Sun Devils played three games in as many days, coach Herb Sendek was happy to open the tourney on Friday instead of Thursday.
The 23rd-ranked Sun Devils (24-9) are making their 13th NCAA tournament appearance and their first since 2003, when they defeated Memphis in the opening round before losing to second-seeded Kansas by 32 points.
