Redflex Statement on Tech Shooting Phoenix, AZ - Karen Finley, president and chief executive officer, Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc., makes the following comments on the senseless loss of its employee, Doug Georgianni, who was shot and killed Sunday evening, April 19, while performing his job:"It has been four days since we lost Doug, and the REDFLEX family is still in a state of mourning. On behalf of our entire company, I have personally had an opportunity to meet with Mrs. Georgianni, who, along with other family members and loved ones, has experienced such a shocking and heartbreaking loss. I would like to take this opportunity to remind the community about the establishment of the Doug Georgianni Memorial Fund through the Bank of America. Going forward, our overriding concern lies with the well-being and security of the Georgianni family, our employees and their loved ones, and the surrounding communities they serve so ably with a mission of protecting public safety. Both internally and in consultation with the Department of Public Safety, we are being deliberative and prudent in our review of various factors to establish criteria that will allow for the re-deployment of our mobile speed enforcement vans. We will alert the public on a timely basis when we have new information to share."Not surprisingly we have received countless inquiries from various media outlets and others about how and why this tragedy occurred, and official investigations are underway that will hopefully be able to answer these questions. While investigatory and legal proceedings unfold, it would not be appropriate for REDFLEX to speculate or comment, and we ask for your collective patience during this process.I would like to thank, once again, the Phoenix Police Department and DPS, whose skill, resourcefulness and decisive action have led to the rapid apprehension of a suspect. I would also like to thank the community for its outpouring of sympathy and support for the Georgianni family. Lastly, I would like to express deep gratitude and appreciation to all REDFLEX employees - both in the offices and out in the field - for their continued dedication to public safety during this most difficult time."
