Burfict leads ASU's 2009 recruiting class

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Linebacker Vontaze Burfict leads a 21-player class heading to Arizona State that includes nine Arizonans and six Californians.

Burfict is a 6-foot-3, 245-pound product of Corona, Calif.

Another notable recruit is 6-foot-8 quarterback Brock Osweiler of Kalispell, Mont. He graduated high school in December and has already enrolled at ASU. He will join the wide-open derby to replace long-time starter Rudy Carpenter next season.

It's a pivotal class for the Sun Devils. They're trying to rebound from a disastrous 5-7 season. ASU opened the 2008 season ranked 15th but matched a school record with six straight losses.
