Randle and Golden Bears hold off No. 17 Sun Devils for sweep in first weekend of Pac-10 playPosted: Updated:
BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -- Arizona State hopes to stay in the Top 25 men's basketball poll this week.
Jerome Randle converted a four-point play with 2:13 remaining, matched his career high with 26 points and had a career-best 10 assists to lead California to an 81-71 victory over the 17th-ranked Sun Devils last night for a seventh straight win.
Ty Abbott fouled Randle at the top of the arc on a long 3 after James Harden had pulled ASU within two points moments earlier.
Harden finished with 26 points and eight rebounds to lead the Sun Devils, who had their eight-game winning streak snapped two days after a 30-point victory at Stanford to start the conference schedule.
Harden missed consecutive 3s in the final 1:10.
ASU's record fell to 12-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Sun Devils had been on their third-longest winning streak in the past 28 years.
Cal is now 13-2 overall and 2-0 in the Pac-10.
