Police missing almost a dozen rifles
PHOENIX - A spokesperson for the Phoenix Police Department says they cannot find nearly a dozen of their high-powered assault rifles.
A total of 11 guns are missing. Officers noticed after a report filed this month. Most of the rifles missing are AR-15s. The total value of the weapons is said to be about $9,500.
Officer James Holmes tells 3TV, "There's officers assigned to the rifles that have changed details, units merged, and we believe the rifles are still out there."
Officials say the missing rifles are still within the department, somewhere in cars, bureaus or precincts. Police also say the weapons have not been stolen.
