Agent sued for killing 12-yo-girl during illegal immigrant chasePosted: Updated:
YUMA - In March 2006, a Border Patrol agent driving across the desert in southwestern Arizona in pursuit of illegal immigrants struck an illegal immigrant and his 12-year-old daughter.
The girl was killed and her father seriously injured.
Now, the father's suing the government and the agent, alleging the agent was driving recklessly.
The lawsuit -- filed last month in federal court in Tucson -- seeks unspecified compensatory damages for the man for crippling injuries and for the death of his daughter.
The Border Patrol said previously that the agent never saw the father and daughter because they were hidden behind a bush that was in the path of the vehicle.
